Sun Berry International, a subsidiary of Dutch fresh produce marketer ZON Fruit & Vegetables, has launched a new premium brand for soft fruit called Sweet Perfection.
The branded range of top-quality berries and currants is set to begin shortly with greenhouse-grown, Dutch Elsanta strawberries, with plans already in place to extend the range next season.
Items set to be added to the line in due course include blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and redcurrants.
'Sweet Perfection will be available all year round and will meet the needs of even the most demanding Dutch and foreign customers,' said a spokesperson for Sun Berry International.
'This quality is achieved through the care and attention with which it is grown, picked and selected. Sun Berry selects only the very best soft fruit for its Sweet Perfection brand.'
The fruit is packed in Sweet Perfection-branded packaging immediately after harvesting. 'These special packs were developed with a great deal of care and attention, opting for a heavier quality box and a tub design that protects the delicate product in the logistics channel.'
The first strawberries to carry the Sweet Perfection brand are being supplied by Manders, one of 11 strawberry growers which have been selected to supply the range.
The first case was bought at ZON's clock auction by a company called Riny van der Staak for €4.93 per punnet.
