Belgian importer Special Fruit has announced that it is offering two unique berry varieties this season, both representing a twist on the traditional strawberry.
The group is selling the pineberry, a strawberry with a slightly sour pineapple flavour that can be eaten fresh or used for decorative purposes in cakes or cocktails.
In addition, Special Fruit is offering customers the 'raspberry-strawberry', which can also be eaten fresh or used in a range of culinary dishes.
'These products are of very good quality and are grown a stone's throw from our warehouse in Meer, and find their way to international consumers through retailers and specialty stores,' the group said in a statement.
'Both are available in packaging of 8x125g under the BerryFresh label. Other packages are available on request.'
