Exotics & Specialities, a division of Dutch marketer The Greenery, is preparing to launch a new line of ready-to-eat Hass avocados under its Solentes brand.
With new seasons approaching in Spain and Israel, the division is aiming to build on what it says is already significant demand and has even adopted a different approach to sourcing that it hopes will boost its business in the coming months.
To guarantee a high-quality product, it is now sourcing the product from a reduced number of suppliers, including Summerfield Exports in South Africa, Galilee Exports in Israel and other suppliers in Spain and South America.
Speaking in the October issue of Eurofruit, the division's Corrie Visbeen said: "Until now, we have been supplying a small number of clients with limited volumes of ripened Hass avocados.
"Before we extend the programme to a larger volume of ready-to-eat avocados with marketing and promotions, we want to optimise the process first."
She added: "Once we have perfected the import process and the way we work with exporters, we will expand the volume of ready-to-eat avocados."
