Soil Association

The UK’s Soil Association conference, entitled “The Future of Food”, will take place in the Custard Factory, Birmingham, on 3-4 February, 2010.

The conference will reportedly address the triple challenges of climate change, resource depletion and food security and the need to develop new models for food and farming systems for the 21st century.

The debate will include a discussion on whether a modified “business as usual” strategy will be sufficient or whether far-reaching changes to our food systems will be necessary.

The conference will be opened by Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association, and will include a number of workshops and panel sessions, including one manned by politicians and another by farmers.

It will also feature the presentation of the Food for Life Partnership (FFLP) awards.
