Trademarked apple variety Rubens is in the running to win Britain’s Tastiest Apple for the third time in a row at this year’s National Fruit Show, which takes place in the UK at the Kent Show Ground later this year.
“This wonderfully tasting British apple has already won the title of Britain's Tastiest Apple two years in a row andin this particularly British celebratory year our growers are going theextra mile to win the title for an unprecedented third year in a row,” said Michael Joyles from Rubens' marketing company, Norman Collett.
Atthe annual event, which takes place on 17-18 October, a newmarketing strategy for Rubens apples will also be revealed.
A newanimated cartoon character called Tasty Rubens is understood to be playing a big part in the Rubens apple marketing campaign for the coming year.
'TastyRubens as a character will bring brand recognition and add fun for consumers who will be able to follow his adventures,” Joyles revealed.
