the South African Avocado Growers Association (SAAGA) is gearing up for another successful campaign in Europe as the season enters full swing this month.
“Arrivals are already underway and market expectations are very positive,” Don Westcott, SAAGA chairman, told Eurofruit Magazine.
“The 2008 export crop is set to reach 9m cartons after good early rainfall and sizes should be up by one count,' he added.
As part of the UK drive, SAAGA is for the first time teaming up with the South African tourist board to offer consumers the chance to win holidays to the country.
UK-based presenter Nicky Hambleton-Jones, a South African national, will also do a series of national and regional radio interviews to promote consumption.
