Frische ist Leben (Fresh is Life), the German fresh produce marketing campaign backed by producers in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, has marked the start of its third year with a launch event in the Lower Saxony town of Leer attended by Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
The campaign, which is co-financed by the European Union, has the support of BVEO, Germany's national association of fruit and vegetable producer organisations, as well as the Dutch Groentenfruit Bureau, the Flanders Agricultural Marketing Office (VLAM) and the German Fruit Trade Association (DFHV), all working under the 5 am Tag (5 a Day) umbrella.
Over the coming month, around 3,500 posters and billboards at supermarkets, hypermarkets and street markets in more than 1,000 cities across the country will encourage German consumers to enjoy a well-balanced diet including ripe apples, crunchy tomatoes or fresh salad.
