German retailer Rewe is looking to launch 20 new Penny Market stores across Romania, according to a report by romania-insider.com.
The news follows the recent launch of a new 1,384m2 Penny Market store in Cluj-Napoca.
The Penny Market/Penny XXL chain currently runs 118 stores in the eastern European country, making it the largest discount network in Romania.
Competing with the likes of Carrefour, Metro, Kaufland, Plus Discount and MiniMax, Rewe also operates Selgros cash & carry stores and Billa supermarkets in Romania.
