The brand shipped record volumes of oranges to the US marker this year
Summer Citrus from South Africa (SCSA) has announced the conclusion of a ”successful and record breaking 2022 season”.
According to the brand, to date all of the fruit has been shipped and will arrive at ports before the end of October.
SCSA reported an increase in volume of approximately 17 per cent when compared with 2021.
This season, the brand shipped record volumes of oranges along with larger arrivals of easy peelers, which ”have quickly become more popular with consumers”.
“As we continue to serve one of the world’s most demanding markets, our global partners are a crucial part of our programme’s success,” said Suhanra Conradie, CEO of SCSA.
“While each season seems to bring its own fair share of trials, this year was no different. Despite the added pressure due to shipping routes removing the Philadelphia port, our ’dream team’ of service providers truly are what make this programme possible.”
Summer Citrus from South Africa said that it continued to successfully execute its business model of managing supply based on demand.
”This would not be possible without its impressive team of growers, importers, local and global officials, as well as logistics and marketing teams,” it stated.
To support the collaborative sales efforts of SCSA growers and importers, the brand hosted its seventh consecutive consumer promotion as it looked to elevate demand and educate shoppers to seek out South African fruit for its ”impeccable quality and flavour during the summer months”.
The promotion reached approximately 20,000 consumers, which was a 22 per cent increase over the previous term.
“As we conclude our season, we wish the domestic US market a successful winter and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the market next summer with an even stronger programme,” Conradie added.
