Despite the continuing economic crisis, Normandy-based vegetable group Priméale is increasing its efforts to preserve the environment, according to Végétable, and is intent on becoming a pioneer in water management.
The company has invested some €500,000 in a new water treatment station in Créances, downstream from its vegetable packhouse.
The new facility is located a few kilometres from the sea and provides biological treatment of the waters in the aerated lagoon.
The purified water is then absorbed by the willows and reeds planted in the 4ha spreading area adjacent.
According to Végétable, the company's investments should be cushioned by the tax savings made by the release of high quality water into the environment.
