French organics

A recent study of the prices of organics and conventional produce at five French retailers has shown that the gap in price has declined since 2009.

The price difference is still considerable, averaging at around 58 per cent, according to 20minutes.fr, but this figure represents a decrease of some 14 percentage points on average compared with 2009.

Retailer Intermarché reportedly demonstrated the smallest gap between organics and conventional, averaging at 50 per cent, mostly due to its competitive positioning on organic fruit and vegetables.
