One of Ireland’s best known potato suppliers is trialling the use of recycled plastic produce boxes in place of wood, as part of its commitment to environmental protection.
Glens of Antrim Potatoes has been supplied with produce boxes by Marmax Products, a leading UK manufacturer, with an initial order of 120 produce boxes saving the equivalent of over 250,000 containers from going to landfill.
Based in Cushendall, the potato business was established in 1972 and supplies leading retailers in the country.
“We are committed to preserving the environment as we reduce the impact our business has on the world around us,' said Michael McKillop from Glens of Antrim Potatoes. 'We’re making progress through our work with companies like Marmax – our culture of environmental and social responsibility makes us think creatively and innovatively every day.'
