Valfrutta roadshow

Valfrutta Fresco, the fresh produce joint venture established two years ago by Italian companies Apo Conerpo, Fruit Modena Group, Conserve Italia, Italfrutta and Cepal, achieved strong results in 2009 according to a report released this week by Ortofrutta Notizie, which is published in-house by Apo Conerpo.

The company managed to sell and market a total of 4,000 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables last year, revealed the group's managing director Gianni Amidei, thanks to strong demand from the Italian market.

'Consumers showed a great appreciation for Valfrutta Fresco products, which are natural and tasty because we select the best varieties which have the right level of ripeness and are safe to eat as they are checked from field to table,' commented Mr Amidei. 'These products are 100 per cent Italian and therefore offer the best guarantee in terms of origin.'

In the past year, around one-third of the Valfrutta Fresco products marketed in Italy were sold through the country's retail trade, with some 65 per cent sold through traditional and specialised channels.

The Valfrutta brand is used to market a range of products, including apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, cherries, pears, kiwifruit, persimmons, table grapes and a number of different tomato varieties.
