In the US, the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has revealed that it is to further increase its contribution to the Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) with a US$250,000 pledge, paid over the next five years.

The association joins fellow donors Seneca Foods, Taylor Fresh Foods and other long-time US$50,000-plus contributors such as Paramount Farms, Stemilt Growers and Syngenta.

'PBH does what no-one else is doing on behalf of the entire produce category; they understand and talk to consumers about fruits and vegetables,' said Bryan Silbermann, president and CEO of the PMA. 'We have been long-time supporters of PBH and are proud to increase our support to this US$50,000 level.'

Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of the PBH, said that the group appreciated the PMA's funding efforts since the start of the foundation in 1991.

'In addition to this cash support, PMA also provides about US$10,000 annually in in-kind contributions by providing complimentary registrations to their events,' Ms Pivonka noted. 'We thank PMA, Seneca Foods and Taylor Fresh Foods for the leadership that they have shown to match Paramount Farms, Stemilt Growers and Syngenta.'
