Pink Lady has teamed up with up-market retailer Harrods in the UK to offer shoppers a special Valentine's Day apple this year.
Growers have developed 2,000 unique apples, each with a heart-shaped birthmark imprinted on its pink skin.
The birthmarks were created by placing heart-shaped stickers on individual apples during cultivation.
The apples will be available from Harrods from 8 February at £3 (€3.42) each.
According to the company, all the proceeds will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital to raise money for research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancer.
