The international Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2013 has opened for entries.

Thefirst year of the awards, which celebrates the art of food photography,saw more than 3,000 images entered from over 60 countries.

RenownedFrench food photographer Jean Cazals won the top prize of £5,000 (€6,210) for his entry ‘Black Pigs’. Some 220 people, including TV chef Gizzi Erskine, nutritionist Lowri Turner and Guild of Food Writers award winner Silvana de Soissons, saw him named as the 2012 Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year at an awards evening at the Mall Galleries, London in April.

The 2013 awards introduce four new categories forentrants. The Food off the Press category for previously published workin books and magazines will open up the competition to a wider range ofentries, according to organisers, while the Food Sn-apping category is for images of food taken on mobile ‘phones, and is in support of Action Against Hunger.

The third and fourth categories are Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year, for images of wine, producers and all things related to wine and Food for Celebration - images of festive, celebratory food from across the world.

Also joining the judging panel will be chef Antonio Carluccio, Prue Leith and The One Show’s Jay Rayner, as well as Ellen Silverman, food photographer for Gwyneth Paltrow.

Chair of the 2012 judging pane Henry Dimbleby of Leon Restaurants said: “The breadth and quality of entries `in Year One` was absolutely extraordinary, and there were any number of pictures that could have gone on to win. I’m certain that the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year is going to become one of those big annual occasions and that the awards will go from strength to strength.”
