Peru has announced the launch of a new avocado promotional campaign in France, the UK and Germany, which will feature product tastings in some of the continent’s leading supermarket chains.
The Peruvian embassy in France said the campaign, which was being organised through the Peruvian Association of Hass Avocado Producers, would include tastings in branches of Carrefour and Auchan to “educate consumers about the best way to buy and eat” the fruit, reported news agency EFE.
Over the coming months, participating exporters will be working to link the label ‘Peru’ with “an image of quality”, Peruvian commercial attaché Rosario Pajuelo said, speaking at the campaign’s launch.
France is Peru’s largest single market for avocados in Europe, receiving 31 per cent of the country’s estimated 70,000 tonnes exported during 2011.
