US non-profit fruit and vegetable group Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) has been boosted this week with the news that Taylor Farms is to increase its contribution commitment for a five-year period.
The group, a major North American producer of salads and healthy fresh foods for foodservice and retail, has made a US$250,000 pledge to PBH over the next five years after being impressed by the foundation's impact.
'In the course of our industry conversation about the merits of a National Promotion Board for Fruits & Vegetables this past year, we were again impressed by the mission and effectiveness of the PBH,' said Bruce Taylor, chairman and CEO of Taylor Farms.
'PBH, with their sole focus of increasing fruit and vegetable consumption among Americans with their unifying message, Fruits and Veggies-More Matters, are incredibly successful in working with retailers and foodservice operators to get maximum leverage from industry resources,' Mr Taylor added. 'Increased fruit and vegetable consumption by American consumers will benefit them with a healthier diet and benefit the industry that produces and distributes great fruits and vegetables. We are proud to be a more significant partner in this important project.'
Elizabeth Pivonka, president and CEO of PBH, said that the foundation was 'happy and humbled' by the financial support that Taylor Farms was offering.
'It is an honour to work for an organisation that does something good for consumers as well as for the industry,' she said.
