PBH Munch Crunch Bunch

The Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) is inviting children throughout the US to participate in the World’s Biggest Healthy Foods Treasure Hunt in September in honor of National Fruits & Veggies-More Matters month.

The drive, supported by the Munch Crunch Bunch, is designed to empower young children (between the ages of four to eight) to make healthy food choices, according to a PBH statement, as well as encourage the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.

While 90 per cent of Americans consume fewer fruits and vegetables than the recommended daily amount (which ranges from 2 to 61/2 cups per day), PBH said 87 per cent of mothers believe it is important to include fruits and vegetables in their family’s diet.

As part of the campaign, PBH is organizing Munch Crunch Bunch Treasure Hunt parties during the month of September where children can learn about healthy eating and receive an interactive book/game containing 45 Foodle (food riddle) cards that can be taken to grocery stores and/or farmers’ markets to treasure hunt for fresh produce.

Parents, grandparents, teachers and health advocates will also be provided with an innovative and engaging health resource tool to help make a difference in their children’s food choices.
