The Produce for Better Health Foundation's (PBH) board of trustees elected its executive committee and officers at the group's annual meeting, which took place on 8-10 April, with Andrea Astrachan of Ahold USA moved from vice-chair to chair.

Roger Pepperl of Stemilt Growers was elected as vice-chairman with Paul Palmby of Seneca Foods Corporation elected as secretary/treasurer, while Marty Ordman of Dole Food Company elected chair of PBH's consumer marketing and communications committee. Mac Riggan of Chelan Fresh Marketing assumed chairmanship of the foundation's donor marketing an outreach committee.

Also elected to serve as at-large members of the PBH executive committee were Rick Bruno, Gaines Chamberlain, Dennis Christou, Lori Miller, Heather Mizrahi, Jim Sarcletti and Suzanne Wolter.

Meanwhile, the foundation has named 14 Role Models and four Champions for their support of the Fruit & Veggies-More Matters national health initiative in 2009.

Nine retailers achieved Role Model status, including Ahold USA, A&P, Food Lion, Kroger, Safeway, Savemart, Schnucks, Supervalu and Weis Markets, with Associated Wholesale Grocers and Meijer achieving Champion status.

Five suppliers achieved role model status, including Chelan Fresh Marketing, CH Robinson worldwide, Rainier Fruit Company, Stemilt and Welch's, while Giorgio Fresh Mushrooms and Phillips Gourmet Mushrooms achieved Champion status.
