Organics specialists Alterbio and Biolife, of France and Tunisia respectively, have joined forces to introduce organic Maltese oranges to the French market. From today French consumers are able to purchase the orange, which carries a protected geographical indication label.
“We are increasing our range with a high quality product: the Maltese,” explains Emmanuel Eichner, director of France-based Alterbio, which expects production to reach 80 tonnes this year.
“Our team visited the Cap Bon peninsula in Tunisia last autumn, and it is then that we finalised our partnership with the Tunisian company Biolife,” continues Mr Eichner. “In fact, last year we already had some volumes, but it is really only this year that the Maltese is making its entrance into the range.”
