Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), one of the world's leading transportation companies, has announced the launch of its CO2 e-calculator, allowing companies to work out the approximate amount of carbon dioxide emitted during cargo transport by sea or by air.
Developed in cooperation with Yusen Logistics, the calculator is a first for a Japanese shipping company and has also received third-party verification from LRQA Japan to certify its accuracy.
Previously, NYK had responded individually to inquiries from customers regarding data, particularly CO2 emissions, on the environmental impact of cargo transport.
With the introduction of the e-calculator, a wide range of users can now become more informed about the impact of cargo transportation on their carbon footprints, NYK said.
