Spain's Livinda apples has created a crowdfunding initiative to raise money for women athletes and increase visibility around women’s sport.
The digital platform will provide professional and amateur sportswomen access to financing so that they can improve and enhance their chances of success.
Ignasi Argilés, commercial director of Nufri which owns the Livinda apple brand said the idea was to draw attention to women’s sport.
“It is a project of shared dreams – we know that our athletes deserve to be able to fulfill them and that in order to achieve this they not only need economic support but also to know that we value their effort and sacrifice,” he said.
From 14 December to 15 August 2017 all athletes can – individually or collectively – submit their requests for funding at ellassondeaqui.com.
Olympic weightlifting champion Lydia Valentín has been chosen as the patron of the project and was present at its launch on Wednesday.
