Norbert Dentressangle has revealed that it is featuring in the BBC’s new live series, Airport Live, which aims to tell the untold story of how the UK's Heathrow airport is run.

A film exploring the role of Norbert Dentressangle’s Perishables Handling Centre (PHC), Europe’s largest chilled airfreight handling centre, will be shown in episode three of Airport Live, which airs on Wednesday 19 June on BBC2.

As part of its behind-the-scenes look at the airside operations of one of the world’s busiest airports, Anita Rani visited Norbert Dentressangle’s PHC in May this year to gain an understanding of how the company’s activities ensure that products such as exotic fresh fruits are available for UK consumers to buy year-round.

Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Norbert Dentressangle’s Heathrow facility handles around 120,000 tonnes of fresh produce each year, providing a complete service from aircraft to shelf – typically in less than 24 hours.

Presented by Dan Snow, Dallas Campbell and Anita Rani, Airport Live marks the most complete exploration of Heathrow’s grounds and skies and features a mix of live and pre-recorded footage being shown over four consecutive nights, starting on Monday 17 June.
