Thirty leading fruit and vegetable producers from the southern Spanish provinces of Murcia and Alicante have joined together to create Ibérica Hortofrutícola, a new association designed to defend the interests of small and medium businesses.
The new fruit and vegetable producer-exporter group was officially unveiled today (22 October) by its president, citrus entrepreneur Juan de Dios Hernández Navarro (pictured above).
In a statement, Mr Hernández Navarro said the association had been created with the multiple aims of driving fruit and vegetable consumption, providing added value to fresh produce companies and defending the strategic role that the sector plays within Spain’s national economy.
The group would, he continued, “aim to defend the interests of the fresh produce sector nationally and help small and medium sized companies with development of their businesses”.
As well as heading the new association, Mr Hernández Navarro is also the managing director of Murcia-based citrus company Export-Import Diali.
