Conference pears from Belgium and the Netherlands have received a major marketing boost with the launch of new advertising to support sales of the fruit, backed by funding from the European Union.
The Conference Pears – Always a Good Idea project is organised by Belgian group VLAM and Dutch organisation the Groenten Fruit Huis, whose members have matched the EU’s financial contribution in order to sustain a three-year campaign.
The first promotional activities will take place in Belgium and in North Rhine-Westfalia in Germany, where VLAM and Groenten Fruit Huis have secure a partnership with the country’s consumer health agency 5 am Tag Obst & Gemüse.
A dedicated website containing a wealth of information and recipes relating to Conference pears has also been launched in German, Dutch, Flemish and French.
