Mercator has revealed that it slipped to a loss in the first half of the year as a number of factors impacted on its performance.
The group registered a net loss of €16.5m during the six-month period, while earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation slipped by 26 per cent year-on-year.
According to Planet Retail, results were hit by the challenging economic economy, consumer uncertainty, higher fuel prices and exchange rate fluctuations, with poor performances in Croatia, Bulgaria and Albania in particular.
