The design of Dutch fresh produce importer Nature's Pride's new headquarters, currently under construction in Maasdijk near Rotterdam, has earned the company one of the world's most respected seals of approval for its commitment to sustainability.
'Our new building has received a Breeam Excellent design certificate,' confirmed chief executive Shawn Harris, who recently took delivery of the certificate from Stefan van Uffelen, director of the Dutch Green Building Council.
Breeam, which stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method, was originally developed and introduced by the UK-based body Building Research Establishment as an assessment method to determine the sustainability of buildings.
The group's Excellent rating is understood to place the new Nature's Pride premises among the top five most sustainable distribution centres in Western Europe.
