Soil Association

The UK's Soil Association Certification has announced the appointment of Dr Phil Morley as fresh produce trade consultant.

The organisation, which certifies over 70 per cent of all organic products sold in the UK, said that the appointment formed part of its 'ongoing commitment to providing the best possible technical and industry knowledge to ensure both the integrity of organic products and to support the development and growth of the organic market'.

Dr Morley previously worked for UK tomato producer Wight Salads, helping the company to become the largest independent organic tomato producer in the EU, before concentrating on the development of organic standards and joining the Soil Association Horticultural Standards Committee.

On the appointment, Rob Secton, CEO of Soil Association Certification, commented: 'It’s fantastic to have Phil on board as trade consultant, joining a team that is characterised by unrivalled practical experience and support. His appointment reflects the dedication of Soil Association Certification to providing the best knowledge and service to our licensees, and to ensuring the integrity of our organic products. We look forward to working with him to build on the ongoing success of such an important sector.'
