Fabio Cannavaro, captain of Italy's national football team, will join fellow Juventus team-mate Claudio Marchisio to promote Melinda apples at next week's Cibus food and drink exhibition in Parma.
The promotional event is part of an ongoing marketing campaign backed by authorities in the north-east Italian province of Trentino and designed to raise awareness of the area's unique products.
Cibus, which takes place at the Parma Exhibition Centre on 10-13 May, is Italy's largest food processing trade fair, attracting in excess of 60,000 visitors each year.
For Melinda, the event provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce the value of its products and underline the quality of its Italian apples and related product lines.
'The Made in Italy guarantee of origin is a fundamental part of Cibus, the leading event for companies in the Italian food industry serving global markets,' said a spokesperson.
Juventus has already formed close links with Trentino's fresh produce sector. Last summer, team members Amauri Carvalho de Oliveira and Hasan Salihamidžic formally opened the 2009 Italian soft fruit season in conjunction with leading Trentino berry cooperative Sant'Orsola.
