The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association (PAIA) has announced that Matt DeCarlo, president of Altar Produce in Calexico, California, has accepted the position as West Coast co-chairman at the organisation.
DeCarlo assumes the position with immediate effect following the sudden passing of former West Coast co-chair, Chris Martin, who was also president of Gourmet Trading.
The association said it is grieving the loss of Chris Martin and offers its for Martin's family and company employees.
For the 2012-2013 term, Walter Yager, CEO ofAlpine Fresh, Miami, Florida, will retain his position as PAIA’s East Coast chairman.
PAIA said the organisation will continue to press forward with its objective to improve the process of Peruvian asparagus imports into North America, and present a united forum through which dialogue and progress is achieved.
