Chiquita Rio movie promotion

Chiquita Brands International has announced that it is teaming up with Twentieth Century Fox to promote 'Rio', a new 3D animated motion picture, through a range of in-store and online activities.

To help raise the profile of the film, Chiquita is highlighting Rio's range of characters through healthy Chiquita-branded products, online games, recipes and multiple opportunities to win prizes – including a trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

'This is a unique opportunity for Chiquita consumers to experience the magic of Hollywood,' said Tanios Viviani, president of global innovation and emerging markets, and chief marketing officer, at Chiquita. 'We've built an interactive playground for our consumer families to have fun, explore the movie Rio, and earn samples of our delicious and nutritious Chiquita-branded products.'

Retail outlets in the US will display Chiquita bananas and Chiquita Fresh & Ready avocados adorned with Rio versions of the company's iconic stickers, while a collectible range of mobile phone stickers will be made available on select Chiquita pineapples from April and Chiquita Minis will display Rio-themed packaging.

Consumers visiting the campaign website will find a sweepstakes system that incorporates online community 'badging' – meaning the more a user interacts with the site, the more 'virtual badges' and chances to win one receives, and the bigger and better prizes become available.

Prizes include exclusive digital downloads, one-year supplies of Chiquita-branded products, Rio merchandise, and a grand prize of a trip to Rio de Janeiro provided by American Airlines Vacations.
