This week, UK-grown mange tout goes on sale on the UK high street for the first time, according to the Guardian, through retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S).

Mange tout is usually sourced from Kenya, with UK growers being unable to supply the volumes needed by supermarkets until now.

The new British mange tout, grown by the Haines family in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, will be available for a limited time until the end of August.

M&S vegetable expert Simon Coupe told the Guardian: 'We know our customers love to buyBritish where possible and are delighted to offer our customers the first British mange tout.'
