LoBue Citrus has launched Ribbitz, a brand of seedless mandarin oranges. It hopes Ribbitz's bright packaging will appeal to parents and children.
The move comes in the US citrus exporter's second year of commercial mandarin harvests and follows the recent introduction of Heritage Reserve navel oranges as well as a new line of packaging for California premium citrus.
All of these product initiatives are part of LoBue's attempt to boost overall citrus sales through high-impact items.
Rick Osterhues, vice-president of sales and marketing, said: 'We're thrilled to encourage more healthy-eating choices, especially for kids.'
Supplies of Ribbitz are expected to be available until May.
