Lidl Ireland will promote consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables as part of a new marketing partnership with Parkrun, the community running event that now operates in more than 20 countries across five continents.
The retailer was named this week as the event’s official fresh food partner in Ireland, in a major boost to its credentials as a source of healthy, nutritious food.
Lidl Ireland’s senior partnerships manager Joe Mooney commented: “We want to give you a fresh way to get your healthy lifestyle up and running by combining the freshest fruit and veg with the most inclusive form of community exercise – the classic Parkrun.”
He added: “We pride ourselves on offering the freshest and most affordable produce on the market and aim to help the wider public maintain a healthy diet and active lifestyle through our partnership with Parkrun.”
Participants who register to take part in their local event can sign up for exclusive Lidl Plus coupons.
Lidl said it also planned to visit every Parkrun location over the course of the partnership. On each occasion, it will hand out refreshments as well as free Lidl x Parkrun t-shirts.
Matt Shields, country manager for Parkrun Ireland, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Lidl to the Parkrun family. Eating healthily and getting active, whether that’s walking, jogging, running or volunteering, go hand-in-hand with making the world a healthier and happier place.”
