For the second year running, leading Italian fresh convenience specialist La Linea Verde is taking part in the country's European Union-backed school fruit scheme through producer organisation OP Sole e Rugiada in Lombardy.
The scheme, which is promoted by the EU as well the Italian government's Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policy, aims to increase consumption of fruit and vegetables among children by means of initatives which encourage good eating habits and a balanced diet.
From this month, La Linea Verde is supplying fresh and ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable snacks to the Italian school fruit scheme under its well-known DimmidiSì brand, with more than 200,000 students in the regions of Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont and the Aosta Valley set to benefit.
Among the product lines selected for the project are: kiwifruit, apples, melons and carrots, all of which have been carefully selected and washed, before being shipped in a practical and attractive pack carefully designed with the target consumer in mind.
'Taking part in the Fruit in Schools project is an important moment for us,' commented Giuseppe Battagliola, president of La Linea Verde.
In fact, bringing the youngest closer to consuming fresh fruit and vegetables, and thus helping to encourage the development of good eating habits among new generations, represents one of the objectives which La Linea Verde wants to push forward with its DimmidiSì brand.
