Apple company KIKU has revealed it is to sponsor World Diabetes Day, a global awareness campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation and backed by the UN which is aimed at countering a recent increase in cases of the disease worldwide.
The marketer will showcase its branded apples as part of a special educational event organised by the German Diabetics Association, due to be held in front of Berlin's Brandeburg Gate on 14 November and expected to attract around 5,000 visitors.
A wide range of information will be presented to the general public at this and other similar events around the world, such as general information about diabetes and its treatment as well as advice on nutrition, as well as free healthy snacks.
KIKU will offer visitors free samples of its branded apples as well as a chance to try out its fresh KIKU apple juice.
2010 marks the second year of the World Diabetes Day campaign's five-year focus on diabetes education and prevention.
