ISPO Kiku and IMS announcement deal

Members of Kiku and IMS announce the deal and the establishment of new charity IWDR

Premium apple brand Kiku has been confirmed as headline sponsor of the International Mountain Summit (IMS), an annual festival of alpine sports and lifestyle held in Brizen, in the Italian region of South Tyrol.

The sponsorship deal, first revealed by Eurofruit in January, was signed officially this week and will see Kiku support IMS for the coming three years and will also see the event marketed as the Kiku International Mountain Summit.

"It is an honour for us to have such a strong presence at one of the most important mountain events and to take part in the development of IMS," commented Kiku directors Thomas and Jürgen Braun.

Kiku has been a supporter of IMS ever since it was founded in 2009 by Markus Gaiser and Alex Ploner.

"Together with Kiku we have opened up new marketing possibilities in the world of mountaineering," said Gaiser, president of IMS. "The University of Innsbruck attested to us in a study a media value of almost €5m for IMS2011 alone; the Kiku brand will in future be able to increase its high profile thanks to the IMS."

Announcing the deal at the international sporting goods trade fair ISPO in Munich, Kiku and IMS also revealed they had set up a charity called IWDR (Ich will da rauf), which will aim to introduce people to the world of climbing sports.
