The Jazz apple brand, marketed by Enzafruit Continent, is seeking out the first members for its exclusive Jazz Apple Juniors Club in the UK, as it looks to attract younger consumers.
“With the variety quickly gathering a cult following and a host of awards since its arrival in 2003, the new scheme aims to find and reward the next generation of Jazz apple fanatics,” Jazz stated in a press release.
The club is being launched in June, with 500 places initially available for 3-12 year-olds. Nominees, who have to be put forward by a family member or friend, will reportedly receive a free special membership pack complete with games, puzzles, recipes, stickers, gifts and challenges for the summer holidays.
“The aim is to get kids active, eating healthily and challenging themselves mentally rather than just playing on a computer console or watching TV,” said the company’s Gary Harrison.“Hopefully the scheme can provide some educational, fun respite for the parents in the summer holidays too.”
First developed in New Zealand but now grown in the UK, the Jazz apple is a cross between the UK’s biggest-selling varieties, Braeburn and Royal Gala. It was voted the “UK’s Tastiest Apple” at the National Fruit Awards 2014/15.
