Netherlands-based Fairfood International has announced the appointment of Anselm Iwundu as the organisation's new executive director.
The announcement follows the news that Frank van der Linde is to step down from the role, a position he has held for seven years.
Iwundu joined Fairfood Internatioanl four years ago, working as director of the research department before his recent appointment.
“My parents are retired professionals now fully engaged in food and agriculture – they manage family farms that supply to local businesses and markets,' he said. 'At each visit, I sit with farm workers and listen to their personal stories. The stories they narrate about the dynamics of sustainability in the food industry and how it affects their life are intriguing and to some extent, traumatic. Which makes our mission to make the food industry sustainable by approaching food companies all the more essential and I am privileged to lead the organisation towards realising it.'
