Some of the biggest players in the Italian fresh produce industry will be in Russia this week for World Food Moscow, which takes place on 15-18 September.
Companies including Alegra, Apofruit, Consorzio Kiwi Gold, Gran Frutta Zani, Orogel Fresco, Made in Blu, Mazzoni, Naturitalia, Pempa Corer and Salvi will be present at the 'Sapori d'Europa' stand - companies that are responsible for €3m of exported fruit to Russia over the past three years.
The groups' presence is part of the European Flavors project, which is financed by the European Union, Italian government and Centro Servizi Ortofrutticolo (CSO) and is aimed at promoting fresh and processed fruit and vegetables in the US, Japan and Russia.
'Absorbing around 100,000 tonnes of product for a total value of almost €70m, Russia represents a particularly interesting market for the Italian fresh produce industry and offers standards that are decidedly high,' said Luciano Trentini, director of CSO. (This is) a characteristic that allows us to respond perfectly to the growing demand for higher quality products has been expressed by the consumers of this country.'
World Food Moscow will host over 1,100 exhibitors from 55 different countries, spanning a large portion of the food and agriculture industries.
