Inverafrut has capitalised on the association between three of Mexico’s most emblematic products –tequila, beer and lime – since carrying out its first exports of Persian limes in 2007. Now the company has gone a step further with the launch of its own line of premium Tequila and Agave beer.
The Veracruz-based company started life shipping mangoes to Europe in 2002, before expanding its export portfolio with other fruits like pineapples, watermelons, avocados, bananas, papayas and limes. Today its offer also includes guacamole and avocado oil, but limes remain its principal product.
“We pride ourselves on being Mexico’s leading exporter of Persian limes, supplying the European market through 52 weeks a year – I’m not aware of any other Mexican lime exporter that can claim to do that, “says the company’s European director Hiram Herver.
During peak season the company ships up to 40 containers a week to its customers worldwide and Herver says demand is rising every year.
“Its use is increasing every year – and not just in cocktails. It’s also gaining ground in the restaurant and catering industry,” Herver continues.
The company has also expanded its international sales network, which includes offices in the Netherlands and the UK, with the recent opening of new offices in South Korea and California. Russia and the UAE are next on its list of markets to conquer.
“The new year brings new challenges, chief among them to expand the range of premium Mexican products we offer our customers and to open up new markets, particularly for our Ultra Premium tequila,” says Herver.
