This year’s Interpoma, the biannual exhibition and conference event for the international apple industry, returns to Bolzano on 15-17 November, aiming to encourage positivity and enjoyment throughout the business with the slogan ‘Bolzano loves apples’.
Organiser Fiera Bolzano has put together a special programme including evening events, themed exhibitions and product tastings for this year’s event, which is expected to attract around 20,000 visitors from more than 70 countries.
Around 500 companies from 20 countries are due to take part, transforming South Tyrol into the capital of the apple market; and the involvement of many locals at venues including restaurants, hotels, bars and bakeries is set to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere around the event.
For the first time, Interpoma will provide an area in which visitors can try out a number of apple-based products.
The Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry in Laimburg will present innovative apple juices and ciders to sample at the Evaluation Lab; and Vog Products, which produces natural ingredients for food and drink processors, will also showcase juices and a series of Pink Lady products.
Plus, for the second time, there will be another area called the Startup Village dedicated exclusively to new companies, ideas and entrepreneurs.
As in previous years, a major conference programme is planned. The Apple in the World will look at trends in eastern Europe and Asia, international developments in the breeding of new varieties, and the latest in terms of the apple genome.
There will also be a special look at the apple’s historic journey from its origins in Kazakhstan to today’s new possibilities in terms of handling and processing, and the potential vision of a far more technologically sophisticated industry in future.
Evening events, meanwhile, include a special Golden Delicious Night at the Forst Season restaurant at Fiera Bolzano, all designed to boost support for the entire apple industry.
