Dutch fruit breeder Inova Fruit has confirmed that in future it will handle the sale of any apple varieties it has developed.
The group has established a separate company, Inova Fruit BV, to take care of commercial operations relating to new cultivars.
Eurofruit understands that this will include existing club varieties Rubens, Junami and Wellant, as well as any others emerging from the company's breeding programme in future.
Inova Fruit has been working with the Dutch Fruit Growers Organisation NFO and several of the country's leading fruit marketing cooperatives – among them The Greenery, Fruitmasters, Fruitveiling Zuid Limburg, Veiling Zaltbommel and Veiling Haspengouw – to formulate a way of pooling sales.
A joint sales strategy is expected to be in place in time for the new topfruit season.
