Messe Berlin, the organiser of Fruit Logistica 2011, has, in conjunction with Fruchthandel Magazine, announced the 10 nominees for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2011 (FLIA), the title honouring outstanding new products and services in the fresh produce industry.
According to a release on the Fruchthandel website, the 10 nominees selected by the FLIA jury include:
– Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti (Italy) for its five new 'Sweet Resistants' apples
– Florette (France) for its 'Resealable freshness Salad Bag'
– Gasa Group (Denmark) for its 'Jamie Oliver - Grow Your Own' herbs and mushrooms range designed for use at home
– Limeburst Fingerlimes (New Zealand) for 'Limbeburst Fingerlimes', an Australian-grown citrus variety
– NSure (Netherlands) for its 'StoreNSure Pear' system, enabling internal quality control for Conference pears during storage
– Plant & Food Research (New Zealand) for 'RockitTM', a small apple contained in a plastic cylinder
– Prime Champ (Netherlands) with 'Mandelpilz', a mushroom with a nutty taste
– Syngenta Seeds (Netherlands) for 'Angelle', a small plum tomato
– The Greenery (Netherlands) for its 'Sweet Sensation' pear variety
– Xeda International (France) with 'BIOX-M', a natural germination inhibitor for potatoes
The products will be presented in a special exhibition throughout the Fruit Logistica trade fair on 9-11 February 2011, with visitors to the Berlin Exhibition Grounds able to vote for their favourite innovation.
The winner of FLIA 2011 will be revealed during a presentation on the final day of the event, 11 February.
