Global berry company Hortifrut has announced that it has achieved B Corp certification, recognising its ongoing social and economic sustainability efforts.
“This achievement represents much more than a recognition: it is an opportunity to consolidate and expand our long-term strategy, in which sustainability is not an option, but an essential pillar of our business vision,” said CEO Héctor Luján.
“This accomplishment is the result of the collaborative work of employees, producers, suppliers, customers, business partners, and strategic allies who share the vision of a more responsible future.”
The B Corp Certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability in their management. The certification process includes the evaluation of areas such as community and environmental impact, employee treatment, customer relations, and ethical business practices, among others.
With operations in 15 countries and revenues exceeding US$1.165bn in 2024, Hortifrut said it promotes an innovative and sustainable business model, with a vertically integrated operation that ranges from genetic development to the end customer enabling it to offer high-quality fresh fruit throughout the year.
Hortifrut said the certification will strengthen its position as a benchmark in sustainability within the agri-food sector, reaffirming its commitment to the environment, the communities where it operates, and the creation of long-term value.
