Dutch company Hagé International, the import arm of fresh produce marketer The Greenery, plans to launch a special promotion at the end of August to raise the profile of kiwifruit brand Zespri among its trade partners.
Hagé is one of Zespri's key marketing partners in Europe and, as such, works with the New Zealand exporter's European team – based in Berchem, Belgium – to develop sales across the continent.
Between 27 August and 1 October, Hagé will award Zespri customers in the Netherlands one point for each pallet of Zespri Green they purchase and two points for every pallet of Zespri Gold.
The points can then be used as credits to enter a special online competition called the Zespri Pallet Memory game.
Those achieving highest scores stand to win prizes including cameras, televisions, barbecues and iPads, while all entrants will be in line to win a weekend trip to New York.
The first exports of new-season kiwifruit from New Zealand arrived in Europe at the start of May, with estimates pointing to a smaller overall crop of 95m trays in 2012.
