Several of Guatemala’s biggest importers and exporters have formed a new body to promote the country’s fresh produce industry in global markets.
The Guatemalan Produce Trade Association (GPTA) will address subjects that affect the growing, exporting, importing, handling and promoting of fresh produce from Guatemala, focusing on a broad range of topics from logistics to promotion, the association said in a press release.
The GPTA, which will be funded through paid membership, is open to all companies exporting or importing fruits and vegetables from Guatemala. It will be managed by Priscilla Lleras-Bush of Prestige Resources/Solutions Associates.
“Our purpose is for this group to jointly work as a united front to enhance the environment for marketing and selling produce from Guatemala,” said Lleras-Bush.
“There are vital topics and solutions on our agenda that will bring Guatemalan products to the forefront of the industry and enable importers and exporters to flourish in the US market.”
