California’s fresh grape growers have backedthe continuation of the California Table Grape Commission and its research by voting to keep it in place for a further five years.

The two-month voting period sawthe majority of growersthrow their weight behind the Commission, which willcontinue its issues management and promotional programmes, president Kathleen Nave announced.

Just over 51 per cent of the growers eligible to vote, representing 81 per cent of the state’s fresh grape volume, voted, andof those voting, over 82 per cent of the growers by number and 70 per cent by volume voted to continue funding the organisation.

Nave noted that this is the ninth favorable continuation referendum for the commission, which was first created in 1967to increase demand for fresh California grapes through a variety of research, promotion and issues management programmes.
