Leading UK supply chain company Gist Limited has been named as the Technology and Logistics Supplier of the Year at the Grocer Gold Awards 2011.
The group was recognised for transforming food retailer EAT's supply chain by consolidating the previously separately managed ambient, chilled and frozen supply chains into a single operation.
As a result of the move, transport routes were optimised and reduced, fuel consumption dropped, driver and store employee safety increased and complaints were reduced.
'Gist's innovative and value-adding approach to the EAT supply chain is best-in-class, and we are delighted that it has been recognised through this award,' said Martin Gwynn, Gist chief executive. 'The award is testament to our belief that if you really understand your customers, you can provide a supply chain operation that delivers tremendous benefits throughout every aspect of their business.'
